Brief Intro to ZCD

On December 18, 2011, a group of young Indians, who call ourselves “Proud Indians”, assembled near the shores of the historic Vivekananda Rock, Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, at 5 pm and start walking. Start taking Honest Steps. We have walked 2500 kms so far and are now headed to Agra. We plan to walk a total of 3500 kms enroute to Raj Ghat (New Delhi).
We have walked through Tamil Nadu, Kerala, karnataka, Andhra Pradesh,Maharashtra. We seek only two things from fellow Indians; walk with us in solidarity and commit to personal honesty as a cornerstone of building a corruption free India.
The remainder of our journey will cover the states of, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and New Delhi. Our team will also visit each and every state to walk with the citizens and create awareness about our approach to building a corruption free India. We are attaching the detailed route map of our journey to Rajghat.
You can be anyone – anywhere – doing anything. If you want to join our walk, for any length, at any point of time, or stretch, please add your honest steps to ours. It could be an epic adventure of your life and a new country will rise from the efforts each of makes. Join us Now!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdX33YUuFKI#0corruptionday in this country

Honest Steps,yours and mine

Yours and Mine

We are a handful and we have an audacious dream.

We agonize over the fact that India ranks 95th on honesty rankings out of 150 countries and we dream of a day when India will rank at the top. That day we will hopefully have the satisfaction of knowing that our tax monies are being spent judiciously and the poor of our country will not have to suffer the depravities they do today.

We believed that such a nation can only be built on foundations of Individual honesty and personal responsibility of each citizen of this country.

Our strategy to fulfil our dream is simple:

1. Seed honesty consciousness across India.

2. Establish 8th April as Zero Corruption Day and encourage fellow Indians across the country to celebrate this each year as a mark of their personal commitment to this idea.

3. Take up honest voting as a campaign/long term program starting with 2014 elections.

4. Undertake a study of deeply held beliefs about our country and our role as citizens and create programs/communication/conversations that can shift our deeply held beliefs in ways that is empowering and supportive of positive action.

5. Demonstrate through a reality television show alternate ways of choosing effective leaders.

6. Develop a method to audit processes for transparency and honesty by taking up one mandal for complete transformation.

To start implementing our ideas in earnestness we decided to walk from Kanyakumari (Swami Vivekananda Rock) to Raj Ghat (New Delhi). Seeding honesty consciousness and creating conversations of collective responsibility we have walked 2500 kms so far; the journey spanning four months and covering 3200 kms by foot will reach Raj Ghat on 7th April’ 2012.

As we get closer to Raj Ghat, we are acutely aware that our efforts can easily go down as an interesting effort in an ocean of experiments, if many fellow Indians do not join us in solidarity and own this dream as their own. We write to you with a request to join hands and together build a nation we could each be proud of.

Following are some of the ways in which we need help:

1. We would like to mobilize as many people as possible to walk with us to Raj Ghat when we reach Delhi.

2. We need media to support our cause by giving us coverage on news channels.

3. We would like to inspire our parliamentarians to join us for the last 2 kms to Raj Ghat and set an example for their followers and supporters that this is a dream worthy of striving for.

4. We need support with permissions for our programs on 7th and 8th April 2012.

5. We need funds to meet expenses of our journey across India, include the expenses we will incur on 7th and 8th April. We need to raise funds to the tune of Rs. 5,00,000/- to break even.

6. We need to build a team of interested volunteers to build on the gains of this walk and implement our strategies as listed earlier.

Zero Corruption Day

Dear Fellow Indian,

We are a group of young individuals and we have an audacious dream!

We gave life to our dreams of building an Honest India as we crafted our journey, the journey of HONEST STEPS. And the dream we hold is to take India to the top of Honesty rankings across the globe; beginning with leading an Honest life oneself and inspiring our fellow citizens to cultivate an attitude of taking personal responsibility and making a big difference through small, voluntary steps.

As we approach closer to the destination of our first step on this journey, the destination of instituting a ZERO CORRUPTION DAY, on April 8th, we await our fellow Proud Indians to rise collectively in continuing this Journey of Honesty that we've embarked on.

However, our crusade is corruption but, less about Janlokpal & more about our small bit to weed out corruption. Please watch &share widely as the walking team reaches Pune and Mumbai and talk to the fellow citizens, having walked over 2,500 kms across villages, towns and cities of Kanya kumari, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, tribal belts of Adilabad, Nagpur, Gwalior and Madhya Pradesh ?
